Bend the Knotted Oak Chamber Music
Sun. Sep 14, 2008 at 3:00pm
Bend the Knotted Oak (BKO) Chamber Music, a concert produced by Uel Wade, pianist, with Joel Pitchon, violinist, Ron Carbone, violist, and Ronald Feldman, cellist. Wade has presented chamber music concerts the past three years under the name Columbia Chamber Players, with whom he is no longer associated. The new name is taken from a famous couplet by Congreve:
“Music hath charms to soothe the savage breast,
to soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak.”
The program will feature the mighty C minor Piano Quartet by Brahms, as well as works by Bach, Mozart, Handel, Beethoven, and Shulamit Ran, a much-recorded contemporary Israeli woman. The venue is St. James Church in Chatham, Sunday, Sept.14, at 3 p.m. Admission: $20. Students 18 and under: free. Reservations: 392-4697
