Sun. Sep 7, 2008 at 11:30am - Sun. Sep 7, 2008 at 1:00pm
Are you a writer who is interested in taking your poetry a step further? Do you want to learn the rudiments of crafting poetry and techniques designed to create a fully involved poem that matters to the reader? Register now for How to Write Better Poetry: A Course for Adults, a new series of writing classes that will meet Sunday, September 7, 14, 21, and 28 from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Kinderhook Memorial Library.
The class will be lead by Irene Mitchell who has had a long career teaching writing. She was poetry editor of Hudson River Arts magazine from its inception, has published poems in literary reviews and magazines in the U.S. and England, and been a featured reader of her work at various regional venues. A group of her poems was set to music for piano and mezzo-soprano by composer Dallas Cline, in an art song cycle, Past All Doors, which had its recorded concert debut in Stuyvesant, NY in 2004. In 2006, she collaborated with artist Peter Barton on a series of broadsides (the text incorporated into the art) for his exhibition, Traces of Ink, at Sena Gallery, Hudson, NY.
You may register for this course by calling the library at 758-6192 or sending an email to oklibrary@berk.com. Class size is limited to 8 participants.
