The perfect violin, created by a master in 1681, is on the auction block. This film, from 1999, follows the violin through history and around the world, as it passes from person to person, causing anger, betrayal, love, and sacrifice. (In each setting the dialogue is spoken in the appropriate language and throughout the movie, the solos are played by noted violinist Joshua Bell.) Winner Best Music and Original Score, 2000 Academy Awards.
