Art of Oriental Brush Painting (Sumi-e)

A course in six sessions: This class is an introduction to the concepts and techniques of brush painting through the use of sumi (ink), and fude (oriental brush). We will explore the history and philosophy of this oriental method of drawing used for over 4000 years in Asia. Still Life Drawing Workshop with Michael Cohen

Local artist Michael Cohen will conduct a still life drawing workshop. Participants will explore the techniques and methods used in creating still life and will work from a single subject supplied by the instructor. Participants should bring their own water-based paint, pencil, charcoal, oil pastel or other medium (no oil or acrylic paint, please) and also should supply their own drawing or water color paper, preferably sized 11” x 14”.  Free and open to the public.
